Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse

Mission Statement

The Freehold Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse exists to meet the need for comprehensive, coordinated substance abuse awareness planning and programming for the residents of Freehold Borough and Freehold Township. The Alliance conducts needs assessments, produces an annual prevention plan and advocates for enhanced prevention services based on community needs and priorities.

Goals

  • Reduce community acceptance of alcohol abuse and the illegal use of drugs, including prescription and over-the-counter medications
  • Prevent the use of alcohol, tobacco, vaping and other drugs by adolescents
  • Advocate for mental health and social-emotional learning
  • Decrease the stigma of mental health disorders and mental health treatment
  • Heighten community awareness of current trends in the use of substances
  • Promote legislation to control the availability of illegal substances

Funding

The Alliance’s largest fundraising activity is the annual Ray Kershaw Memorial Golf Outing. Every spring, the Alliance sponsors a golf tournament complete with prizes and giveaways. The funds we raise continue to support substance use prevention programs for youth and adults in our community. If you are interested in joining the fun or support the event, please contact Kelsey Grenus, Alliance Coordinator, 732-294-5103.
