Mayor’s Message – 2025 Mayor Maureen Fasano
I am honored to represent the people of Freehold Township as Mayor of a town that I truly love. To be appointed Mayor is a privilege that I do not take lightly. In 2022, I served as Mayor for the first time. In the 332 years that Freehold Township has existed, there have only been four other women to have been elected to Freehold Township’s Committee, three serving as Mayor. It is humbling for me to join this prestigious club of women leaders as the fourth woman to serve as Mayor in Freehold Township's history. To all women: I urge you to dream boldly, aim high, and pursue your aspirations with unwavering confidence - there are no limits to what you can achieve.
I want to thank the heads of Freehold Township’s many departments and every Township employee. Freehold Township is fortunate to have an incredible group of people availing their skills for the betterment of Freehold Township and its residents.
Additionally, Freehold Township has 17 Boards and Commissions. These range from Parks & Recreation, to Historic Preservation, to Youth Guidance and more. These Boards and Commissions are comprised of over 125 dedicated Township residents and business owners who volunteer their time to help make our community exceptional.
Freehold Township is blessed with an outstanding group of first responders. Our Police Department continues to serve our community with professionalism and pride preserving public safety and the law alongside our volunteers in the Fire Department and First Aid who have continued to protect our residents with genuine care and concern.
There are so very many things to celebrate about Freehold Township is 2025. The acquisition of land for open space to preserve the character and history of our Township for future generations, cleaning up abandoned and contaminated properties with grant funding and continuing to share services with over 60 municipalities and agencies offsetting taxpayer costs by nearly $2 million dollars.
As we embark on this new year, we know the world is moving fast and often seems like there is much disconnect, anger and even hate surrounding us. But that’s not the truth. The truth is that most people are good. Most work to make the world better. Most want to help. Most love. We all want better. Better for not only ourselves but for the greater good too. Therefore, I am going to ask the same as I did in 2022; We are all different. We come from different backgrounds, have different thoughts and beliefs. But we are all Americans. And we do actually share many of the same thoughts and beliefs. Let’s stand together with love for our country, community and neighbors.
On behalf of the Freehold Township Committee, I extend best wishes for a 2025 year filled with good health, much happiness and peace.
Maureen Fasano, Mayor
Freehold Township
