Radon
Radon is estimated to cause thousands of cancer deaths in the United States each year. Radon comes from the natural (radioactive) breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water that gets into the air you breathe. It can be found all over the U.S. and typically in buildings such as homes, offices and schools. Your risk of exposure is easily determined by testing your home for radon, which is inexpensive and easy. If you find radon, mitigating or fixing the problem is simple and not too costly. Freehold Area Health Department does not currently have any supplies of radon test kits.
